Aurora

Aurora Aksnes (born June 15, 1996, at Stavanger) is an Norwegian artist and vocalist. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval from music journalists and media. She has previously recorded two high-profile covers Half the World Away by the band Oasis in a commercial for Christmas from John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry posted a video that she supported Runaway. The endorsement earned her some attention. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was finding a keyboard in her loft and being intrigued by its sounds. Her parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for a profession or a pastime, but for growth. She began writing her own songs. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as a love for Bjork's style. Her mother had told her that her songs would not just help her get noticed, but also make others see their significance to the world and appreciate the possibilities for them and her music, she was inspired to start playing in front of the public. Piano was her first instrument, at six. She started creating music after turning nine. It was not until she turned 14 that she told her parents. Aurora's fame was not the goal of her. She claims that she enjoys writing songs. Music is her preferred method of feeling something.
